description: "Máquina is a contraption physics puzzle for children: 60 levels across four packs plus an unlimited sandbox, built from ramps, dominoes, seesaws, fans, springs, conveyors and trampolines. # Máquina: Get the ball into the bucket.

Coming soon to the App Store

Drag ramps, dominoes, seesaws, fans, springs and conveyors onto the board, press Go, and let real physics decide. Sixty levels that teach one idea at a time, and a sandbox with no goal at all.

Parts

12, 6 free

Fig. 1Six free parts, one machine: the ball drops onto a ramp, knocks over five dominoes, lands on a seesaw and tips into the bucket.

**02**The board

## Room to build

It runs on an iPhone, but the iPad is the one it was drawn for: the tray beside the board and a whole page for the contraption.

1. **The tray.** Beside the board on iPad, with a count left for each part.
2. **The ball.** It waits where the level starts it until you press Go.
3. **A placed ramp.** Selected, with a dashed outline around it.
4. **The bucket.** The only thing checked: does the ball get in.
5. **Turn or remove.** Five degrees at a time either way, or off the board.
6. **Hint.** There when a child wants one.
7. **Go.** Real physics takes it from here.
8. **On iPhone** the tray sits under the board, and nothing is left out.

**03**Real physics

## Two machines, one bucket. Both count.

Press Go and the simulation decides. Two solutions that look nothing alike both count, because nothing is checking your layout, only whether the ball reaches the bucket.

One ramp, tipped towards the bucket. 1 part

Two ramps: left first, then back to the right. 2 parts

Same start, same bucket. Say par is one part: A earns three stars and B earns two. Both are solved.

### Stars are counted in parts

- Three stars: Solved with par parts or fewer. Par is the part count of the solution the level was tested with.
- Two stars: Solved with more parts than par.
- One star: Solved after a hint, without the unlock. With it, hints cost nothing.

**04**Parts list

## Twelve parts. Six come free.

Each part has a size on the board and one rule it follows. The free six build every level in Gravity and Chains and anything at all in the sandbox. The unlock adds the other six everywhere, the sandbox included.

### In the free set

- #### Ball

  Pelota

It rolls. Gravity does the rest.

Size on the board: 44 × 44 moves

- #### Ramp

  Rampa

A slope. Turn it to aim.

Size on the board: 230 × 18 bolted

- #### Wall

  Muro

Stops things, or bounces them back.

Size on the board: 36 × 150 bolted

- #### Domino

  Ficha

Falls over and pushes the next one.

Size on the board: 22 × 96 moves

- #### Seesaw

  Sube y baja

Tips when weight lands on one end.

Size on the board: 240 × 18 moves

- #### Bucket

  Cubeta

Where the ball has to end up.

Size on the board: 150 × 110 bolted

### Added by the unlock

- #### Fan

  Ventilador

Blows things away from its face.

Size on the board: 92 × 64 bolted

- #### Spring

  Resorte

  Launches whatever touches it.

Size on the board: 84 × 34 bolted

- #### Conveyor

  Banda

  Carries anything sitting on it.

Size on the board: 230 × 26 bolted

- #### Balloon

  Globo

Floats up, and lifts what it holds.

Size on the board: 62 × 62 moves

- #### Magnet

  Imán

Pulls the grey steel ball closer.

Size on the board: 76 × 44 bolted

- #### Trampoline

  Trampolín

  A big, bouncy landing.

Size on the board: 170 × 20 bolted

**05**Sixty levels

## Solvable is a test, not a hope.

Every level was made the same way: place a machine, let a headless probe run it for real, and put the bucket where the ball actually lands. The level keeps that solution, and its part count becomes the par.

The tests place every stored solution through the game's own placement rules, run the physics and wait for one thing: the ball touching the bucket. Never a recorded path, because physics is not exactly the same on every device. A level that fails does not ship.

Levels Four packs of fifteen. Gravity and Chains are free.

**06**No fail language

## A miss just resets.

A run that misses just resets and says try another way. Hints exist, and taking one costs a star, not the level.

A run that misses

“Try another way”

Nothing broke. Move a part and press Go again.

Reset

Back exactly as it was

The board rebuilds from what was placed, seesaw angles included.

A hint

Costs a star, not the level

Without the unlock, a hinted solution earns one star and the best earlier result is kept.

**07**Sandbox and My machines

## Nothing to win. Nothing thrown away.

### A sandbox with no goal

The same board, unlimited parts, nothing to win. This is where most of the hours go.

A run there simply stops when nothing moves. If the ball does find a bucket, it says so:

“The ball found the bucket. Save it, or keep building.”

### Saved machines are the child's own

My machines keeps every build, opens and runs it even when it holds a part from the unlock, and exports it as a picture. Saving from a level keeps the whole board, bucket and ball included.

1. Balloon lift holds a balloon, a part from the unlock.
2. Launch pad holds a spring, also from the unlock.
3. Share a picture, duplicate, or delete. Delete asks first.

**08**Free and the unlock

## Free to build. One unlock for the rest.

No subscription and no ads. The unlock is one payment, once. It adds Push and Tricks and the six extra parts; Gravity, Chains and the free six stay free.

A saved machine is the child's own work: it opens and runs even when it holds a locked part. Only pulling a new locked part out of the tray ever brings up the paywall.

**09**Privacy

## It all stays on the device.

No account and no server. There is nowhere for a child's machines to go.

### Kept on this iPhone or iPad

- A name and a colour for each child who plays
- Which levels were solved, the stars, and whether a hint was used
- Every saved machine and its picture

### Never

- An account or a sign in
- Ads, analytics or tracking
- The camera or the microphone
- How long a run took, or scores to compare

A picture of a machine goes to Photos only when someone chooses Save Image. Settings and the unlock sit behind a two second hold. Building and playing work offline; buying the unlock and opening links need internet.

**10**Questions

## Asked before

**Is every level really solvable?**

Yes, and it is tested rather than assumed. Each level stores the placement a headless probe used to get the ball into the bucket, and the suite replays all sixty on every build.

**Is there a timer or a score to chase?**

No timer. Stars reflect whether you solved it and whether you used a hint, and a level can be replayed forever with no penalty.

**iPhone or iPad?**

Both. The iPad is the better experience because the board is bigger, but nothing is missing on a phone.
